Every year, many foreign workers are sent to Finland to perform special and highly skilled tasks. For example, from Austria a lot of workers from various industrial sectors are sent to Finland, in order to maintain plants or carry out plant installations, construction work or do other tasks as a paid employee of a foreign company. They are called posted workers.
What does posted worker mean?
A posted employee is a person who normally works in a country other than Finland, and whose employer, who is located in another country and operates in that country, sends him/her to Finland for a limited period of time during the emplyoment relationships.
A company sending employees to Finland must take into account the provisions of the law on sending employees, Finnish labor legislation and taxation of foreign employees in Finland. Some of the employer's obligations must be taken care of even before sending the employee, such as the notification to the labor protection authority about the sending of employees and the employee's residence permit. The length of time the employee is sent to Finland also has an impact on the foreign employer's obligations in Finland.
One of our tasks is to help Austrian companies in matters related to sending employees, and we can also act as representatives of Austrian companies in Finland.
