Austria continues to be a top location for global headquarters, attracting big names like Boehringer Ingelheim, Henkel, Takeda, and BMW Group, as well as rising global stars.

A study by the Institute for International Business at WU (Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien) shows a 6% rise in international headquarters in Austria, now totaling 412.

Vienna, the dynamic capital, hosts almost half of these HQs, with 133 having parent companies based in Germany. The USA is second behind Germany with 41 headquarters, followed by Switzerland (40) and Luxembourg (24). France (16) and Japan (14) are also strongly represented.

Why choose Austria? Its central European location is just the start. Austria's strong economy, stable setting, business-friendly policies, and excellent infrastructure, paired with a high quality of life, make it an attractive business hub.

International HQs in Austria span sectors like manufacturing, wholesale, finance, retail, and R&D, significantly boosting Austria's economy through job creation and investments.
