Within the framework auf the Austrian trade mission to Georgia from November 27 to 28 we had the pleasure to hand over the Energy Globe Award 2023 for Georgia.
The Energy Globe Award is a prestigious environmental award that is awarded annually to projects that save the environment through personal action, sustainable projects, or campaigns for raising awareness in sustainability. The award was founded in 1999 by Austrian energy pioneer Wolfgang Neumann. Projects from over 180 countries participate each year in the Energy Globe Awards. The award categories include resource conservation, improving air and water quality, energy efficiency, renewable energies, and related areas.
The project: Parki ar minda NNLE
Eco-Taxi by Parki ar minda offers for residents of Tbilisi (Georgia) a convenient and trustworthy way to send their waste for recycling. The project consists of paid collection services when the car comes to households or businesses and collects waste, several neighbourhood collection point located in Garages for public to drop off recyclables for free. Collection points are run by volunteers, website eco-taxi.ge for easier access to the information about the Project, mobile application «What I Recycle» aimed on collection of data for future machine learning to enhance public adoption of waste separation practices. Since the start of Eco-taxi by Parki ar minda more than 100 tons of different types of waste were collected and transported for recycling. The client base includes more than 800 individuals and more than 50 business. Around 5000 people already delivered their waste to our collection points and the numbers are growing. We collect 16 types of waste for recycling and reuse - the widest range in Georgia. In 2022 the Eco-taxi project grew 4 times comparing to the previous year in terms of clients served and waste collected. The number of visitors to our collection points grew even higher - more than 10 time comparing to 2021. Eco-Taxi by Parki ar minda is a unique project providing the link between people and developing waste management infrastructure. It has the needs of people at the core of every activity driving positive change towards sustainable development and healthier environment.
