Each year, the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) releases its Global Liveability Index, which ranks the living conditions of a total of 173 cities around the world according to five key metrics: healthcare, culture, education, infrastructure, and environment.
Vienna, the capital city of Austria, thereby retains its title as the most livable city for the third year running, while the Danish capital Copenhagen secured the second spot, followed by Switzerland’s capital Zurich in third place. Also, two Australian cities are among the top 10 most liveable cities: Melbourne came fourth, while Sydney came seventh.
Did you know that...?
Vienna was the first European city to lead the ranking in 2018 and has now replaced Melbourne as the city, which held the title "most liveable city" for seven years.
