Senator Cynthia Villar, representing the Villar Social Institute on Poverty Alleviation and Governance (Villar SIPAG) where she sits as Managing Director, received the Energy Globe Award “Certificate of Honor” from ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA Philippines led by Commercial Counsellor Christina Stieber. ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA is the Premium Partner of the Energy Globe Foundation in the awarding of national winners of the Energy Globe Awards.
The awarding ceremony was held 22 November 2022 at the Villar SIPAG Foundation Function Hall. The awarding was joined by the Austrian Ambassador to the Philippines Johann Brieger and the senator’s family – former Senate President Manny Villar, founder of Villar SIPAG along with Sen. Cynthia; Senator Mark Villar; House Deputy Speaker Cynthia Villar and Vista Land CEO Paolo Villar, and witnessing the event is Vice Mayor April Aguilar, who represented the Las Piñas City government, together with City Councilors, barangay officials and NGO representatives.
The Villar SIPAG’s Las Piñas Kitchen Wastes Composting Project was acknowledged for its significant contributions and sustainable efforts to protect, preserve, and save the environment. The composting project, which was started by Sen. Cynthia Villar in 2002, enabled the city to save more than US$ 6 million annually from recycling 75% of their wastes specifically kitchen and garden waste into organic fertilizer. Through this project, Villar SIPAG, a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of Vista Land, has established 118 composting facilities, 67 of them located in the 20 barangays in Las Piñas and 50 in Vista Land communities nationwide.
