The Delegation of the European Union (EU) to the State of Qatar was inaugurated on September 7th 2022 as a fully-fledged diplomatic mission, responsible for the EU's political and economic relations with Qatar. It also covers the wide range of areas of cooperation that exist between the EU and Qatar, ranging from trade and investment to energy, research and innovation, to security and counter-terrorism, to culture and education, and to development cooperation.
A core function of the Delegation is to promote EU interests and values, raising awareness and making the EU and its policies reach the general public, as well as the state and private sectors in Qatar. It serves to enhance people-to-people relations and to build bridges between the European and the Qatari societies and citizens. The delegation offers information on EU policies and cooperation programs of interest to Qatar. It is the EU’s point of contact for the Qatari government agencies, the media, businesses, civil society and academic circles.
Charles Michel, President of the European Council, participated in the opening of the EU Delegation in Doha. The EU Delegation will be headed by Christian Tudor, former Romanian Ambassador to Qatar and now first European Union resident Ambassador to the State of Qatar.
