The annual Christmas reception at the premises of Advantage Austria Stockholm held a surprise in store for the Austrian-Swedish business community. Two special guests, St. Nicholas, and his devilish companion, Krampus, graced the reception with their presence. According to Austrian tradition the two always appear on December 6 and, depending on if you have been nice or naughty, you either receive a gift from St. Nikolaus or you get spanked by Krampus.

The real guest of honour however was this year's recipient of the National Energy Globe Award Portugal – the Swedish company Corpower Ocean AB.  Commercial Counsellor Martin Glatz and commercial Attaché Lisa Streng Schmidt took the opportunity to hand over the certificate and to shed some light on the project.

The Energy Globe Award is a private Austrian initiative and has been awarded annually since the year 2000. It is currently the world’s leading environmental prize, with more than 180 participating countries and between 2,000 and 3,000 projects submitted every year. This year’s national prize in Portugal went to the Swedish company Corpower Oceans and HiWave 5, a flagship project that was designed to demonstrate the resilience, performance and economics of a grid-connected array in the ocean.

In addition to traditional Austrian Christmas customs and award-winning innovations, the guests enjoyed delicious sandwiches and Apfelstrudel, Austrian wine and a signature drink called “Hot Aperol” that reminded on classic Glühwein enriched with seasonal spices. To sum it up, the evening was a worthy conclusion after an eventful business year.
