The Energy Globe Award was handed over to the Director of Civic Association Ecoenergy, Ladislav Zidek, by the Commercial Counsellor of the Austrian Embassy and Head of ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA in Bratislava, Mrs. Bettina Trojer, in an official celebration event in the Drienová Bioclimatic Park (Žilina self-governing region).
The aim of the CLIMA BEST project was to inform, inspire and mobilize the public and various target groups towards simple and effective measures for climate recovery in everyday life.
In the Bioclimatic Park Drienová near Rajec, simple practical measures were publicly presented, accompanied by several types of informational activities such as water for climate workshops, solar tours on electric bikes, landscape and climate festivals, practical seminars on clean heating, or lectured tours of nearby nature-related measures in the field. More than 2400 participants gained practical experience or acquired new knowledge in the field of climate change adaptation and mitigation.
Ms. Trojer emphasized, “By creating the Bioclimatic park and the implementation of forward-looking actions you have set an example for the restoration of damaged agricultural landscapes and for the adaptation to climate change. The Bioclimatic park also serves schools, organizations, and individuals as a living education and research center. This is also how you pass on the flame to the younger generations. Your project makes a valuable contribution to overcoming the multiple challenges that we face and with its activities it points to a hopeful future.”
The chairman of the Žilina self-governing region Erika Jurinová and the mayor of the city of Rajec Peter Hanus also took part in the award ceremony.
The Energy Globe Award is the most important Award for Sustainability worldwide.
The objective of the Energy Globe Award is to present successful sustainable projects to a global audience and to demonstrate that for most of our environmental problems feasible solutions are already available.
Projects submitted from over 180 countries participate in the Energy Globe Awards each year. Innovative projects and smart technologies from around the world are invited to submit and the participation is open to all projects which save our environment like resource conservation, improving air and water quality, energy efficiency and renewable energies and related areas, including projects that focus on the creation of awareness in these areas.
