The month of October is traditionally marked by the Austrian-Slovak Cooperation Platform, a unique b2b platform that connects Austrian and Slovak companies in the field of engineering, plastics, and metalworking industries. This year was no different - although, the current difficult situation related to the corona crisis posed a significant challenge to event's organisation.

The organization team consisting of ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA, Enterprise Europe Network (EEN), Slovak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SOPK), and Slovak Plastics Cluster (SPK), met this challenge and successfully carried out the 9th year of this traditional cooperation platform unconventionally - online. As partners, the Cooperation Platform was supported by the Austrian Business Agency (ABA) and the Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO).

Despite the change in the event format companies confirmed their stable interest in this form of networking. A total of 10 Austrian companies and about 30 Slovak companies took the opportunity to attend bilateral talks. During the day, approximately 100 bilateral meetings took place between Austrian and Slovak companies.

This number confirms that despite the dynamically developing situation in Europe and the world, the interest in cooperation between the Austrian and Slovak sectors of machinery, engineering, metal processing and plastics continues in a very positive development trend. The current challenges, which also affect the stability of the supply chain, only confirm the importance of deepening trade relations between neighboring countries.

The range of topics discussed at the talks varied this year as well. Companies focus not only on production cooperation, even though this topic is one of the most stable in the long run. Focus increased on forms of partnership in the field of optimization and automation of production, the sustainability of production, ensuring efficiency and high quality of products, and other domains typical for production operations of the future.

All participants also had the expert advice of representatives of the Slovak Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Enterprise Europe Network, and the Slovak Plastics Cluster, who informed them about further opportunities for cooperation in Slovakia and internationally.Slovak companies additionally could book a meeting with a consultant from the ABA agency, who presented the possibilities and benefits of doing business in Austria and receive information on pro-export services offered by SARIO.
