The European Union Film Festival (EUFF) 2022 will be held for the 18th time and will take place this year for the first time in a hybrid version. EUFF draws the best films from the European Union to Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver, engaging Consulates and Cultural Institutes in collaboration. Driven by excellence since it was founded in 2004, the festival has thrived by showcasing hidden gem and award-winning films for 18 years now, to the great delight of Canadian audiences.

Among the 27 European films, Austria is represented by the awarded film "FOX IN A WHOLE" by Arman T. Riahi. The Austrian film "FOX IN A WHOLE" from 2020 is about teachers and students in a class at a Vienna juvenile detention center and is an intense and unrelenting #drama with an explosive cast. It won numerous awards such as at the Diagonale 2021, Romy 2022, Deutscher Schauspielpreis 2021 and at the Österreichischer Filmpreis 2022. The film will be played in German and Bosnian with English subtitles.

Through the EUFF the best films from independent cinema in the European Union are being premiered in Canada. In this way, these European films can be presented to the film community in Canada, but it also supports the cultural dialogue between Canada and Europe. This is to further promote diversity - the probably already most multicultural city in the world.
