EU Recovery Mission to Cyprus

ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA is organizing an EU Recovery Mission to Cyprus in collaboration with the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Enterprise Europe Network Cyprus, and the Cyprus-Austria Business Association. The Austrian business delegation will focus on waste management, water management, renewable energy, biomass, digitalization, and innovation.

The goal of the Cyprus-Austria business forum, taking place on Thursday, November 21st, at the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Nicosia, is to provide Cypriot and Austrian companies with detailed information on the Cypriot Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP) in a concise manner. The forum aims to introduce participants to key stakeholders and facilitate connections through B2B meetings, thereby maximizing the effective utilization of the available 1.2 billion euros in the best interests of both nations.

The RRP for Cyprus offers a wide range of cooperation opportunities, with funds allocated across various sectors. Significant investments include €269 million for climate neutrality, energy efficiency, and renewable energy, and €166 million for economic diversification. The plan also supports the modernization of the public sector, judicial reforms, and anti-corruption efforts (€96 million), as well as education enhancement (€94 million) and sustainable transport (€91 million). Other key areas include smart water management (€87 million), labor market and social welfare (€79 million), healthcare and civil protection (€74 million), research and innovation (€64 million), infrastructure upgrades (€53 million), business competitiveness (€51 million), fiscal stability (€45 million), and e-Governance (€36 million). More than three-quarters of these funds will be utilized over the next two years.

The event is fully supported by the Austrian Embassy in Nicosia and is part of ReFocus Austria, a collaborative initiative involving the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs, the Federal Ministry of Labour and Economics, the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, the Austrian National Tourist Office, and representatives from other federal ministries.

Don’t miss this opportunity to meet leading Austrian companies in the fields of energy transition, traffic management, water and environment, civil protection, software development, artificial intelligence, and data science, and explore new business opportunities together.
