Silicon Alps Cluster Study Trip to Finland and Estonia 10-13 October 2022 - versatile and inspiring

After our EdTech study trip to Finland and Estonia filled up in no time in Spring 2022, not all of those interested could get a place and had to stay at home. Luckily, we could organize a second edition of the delegation trip in mid-October 2022, this time not only focusing on EdTech.

In close collaboration with the Austrian-based Silicon Alps Cluster, the Advantage Austria offices in Helsinki and Tallinn designed a four-day-trip to Finland and Estonia. Keeping in mind the different interests of the cluster members, the program comprised a wide range of topics, from the broad field of EdTech all the way to Microelectronics and Cybersecurity.

The program started in Finland with visits to the renowned VTT Research Centre and Aalto University. Additionally, the program included a day-long visit to Tampere. The group got to know the operations of Business Tampere's development center and received first-hand information about the area's strengths and investments. The interesting presentation offered the group plenty of new perspectives and topics for discussion. The day's program continued with a topical lecture on the regional development activities of ECUI University and micro-credentials, and ended with a visit to the Tampere University, where the group got to know new ecosystem initiative, in which different parties are jointly developing a Finnish System-On-Chip.

One of the four delegation days was spent in Tallinn. The program at this day included, among others, a visit to the prestigious TalTech University, which is a project partner of the Silicon Alps Cluster, as well as a presentation of the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Excellence Center, which was particularly memorable for the group.

All in all, the trip was rewarding for the organizers, participants and partners as well.
