Seven Austrian companies took part in the trade mission to the South Caucasus. The event included over 70 individually organized B2B and B2G meetings, which took place in institutions such as The Georgian Ministry of Economy, the Georgian Ministry of Infrastructure, the Georgian Ministry of Education and the National Agency for the Public Register, as well as various associations.

A highlight of the economic mission was the Energy Globe Awards ceremony in Georgia. The project “Eco-Taxi” by Parki Ar Minda NNLE received a national award from the Austrian Energy Globe Award Foundation. This pioneering project helps to raise awareness of the reuse of valuable resources by creating a simple and feasible collection system in cities with limited infrastructure and traffic-plagued districts.
The Austrian trade mission continued in neighboring Armenia. On the way from Tbilisi to Yerevan, the delegation visited the traditional health resort Dilijan and learned about its sustainable development projects.
On November 29th and 30th, 4 Austrian companies (recycling, packaging, wood processing, metallurgy) had B2B meetings with 28 Armenian companies and the Yerevan City Council. This gave new impetus to develop Austrian-Armenian cooperation in fields like sustainability, infrastructure and urban technologies.
Georgia
Georgian economy grew strongly at 7,6 % in the first half of 2023. Especially trade, tourism, the booming technology industry as well as the flourishing service and construction sectors are contributing to this growth. With an investment-friendly environment, tax advantages and a strategically favorable geographical location, Georgia offers Austrian exporters an attractive position for successful expansion throughout the region.
Armenia
Armenia presents itself as an open and liberal market in which industry, agriculture, energy industry, IT and tourism are growing dynamically. Armenia's economy recorded impressive growth of 9 % in the first half of 2023. Despite political tensions in the region, there are still promising growth opportunities for Austrian investors in Armenia. Another reason is the desire to strengthen and deepen cooperation between the European Union and Armenia in many areas.
