On April 9th/10th, the Vice President of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, Amelie Gross, led a C-level business delegation to Athens as part of the Executive Mission "Repower Greece 2.0". The aim of the event, organized by ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA Athens, was to provide detailed information on the €36 billion Greek Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP) in a very compact format within only 24 hours.
The program included an executive briefing on the political situation and economic conditions by Ambassador Gerda Vogl and the Austrian Trade Commissioner, Christoph Sturm, as well as a visit to the Ministry of Economy and Finance, where Alternate Minister Nikos Papathanasis and the Governor of the Recovery & Resilience Facility Agency, Orestis Kavalakis, provided insights into investment opportunities within the RRP.
The agenda continued with a ReFocus Austria-network reception at the residence of the Austrian Embassy and a roundtable discussion at the Center of Entrepreneurship "Konstantinos Michalos" of the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry with representatives from RRP-relevant ministries and institutions, such as the Ministry of Digital Governance, the Ministry of Labour, the Region of Attica, Enterprise Greece, the Hellenic Bank Association, and others.
Representatives and project partners from prominent Austrian companies, including Andritz Hydro, Cineplexx, Getzner, PLPG, sdbs, Swarco, Trenkwalder, and TÜV Austria, participated in the delegation. You can find detailed information about these companies under the section "Links" on this page. During the event, they had the opportunity to present themselves at the highest political and business levels and convey their cases to the official authorities.
The Greek government is determined to utilize the recovery plan "to the last euro" and aims to welcome and support Austrian investments and cooperation projects, especially in the areas of green energy and the environment, as well as digitization & innovation, offering ideal economic conditions. Some impressions of the Executive Mission are captured in this short video-documentary.
