Connecting the energy-critical Ladakh region to the Kashmir grid, the project demanded engineering solutions capable of performing reliably under extreme sub-zero conditions, with temperatures dropping as low as –40°C. It marked a first for PGCIL, requiring transmission hardware fittings designed specifically for such severe cold-weather performance standards.
For more than 75 years, Mosdorfer has been developing and producing fittings and systems for high-voltage overhead power lines. Mosdorfer India was selected as a key hardware supplier for the project, leveraging its global expertise in extreme-climate transmission solutions. Drawing on decades of international experience, the team engineered and delivered specialized fittings tailored to meet India’s most stringent cold-weather specifications.
The successful implementation of the transmission line highlights the contribution of Austrian engineering expertise to India’s power infrastructure development.
