Over the past 10 years, Austrian export businesses have increased their exports to Asia from EUR 11.5 billion to EUR 16.4 billion. China is Austria’s most important export market in Asia, followed by Japan, South Korea and India.

And there is great potential for further cooperation between Asian and Austrian companies in these key areas:

  • Urbanization: flourishing cities need to expand and modernize transportation and energy infrastructure and are in demand of smart solutions in the environmental sector.
  • High-Tech: complex products, increasing division of labor and economic development drive the demand for high-tech devices, particularly in plastic and metal processing.
  • Green-Tech: sustainability has gained significant importance in Asia, and Austrian companies possess extensive experience and technological solutions in this field.

The Asia Day in Vienna (December 5, 2023) was an excellent opportunity to network and establish valuable partnerships. The conference hosts welcomed around 500 participants from businesses interested in Asia and invited a broad range of high-level speakers covering different regions of Asia. The agenda further featured country briefs and one-on-one consultations with ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA’s export experts and regional representatives. 17 embassies and service providers reached out via an exhibition area. Austria's Minister of Labour and Economic Affairs underlined that "The economic boom in the Asia-Pacific region comes with significant opportunities for the export economy".

The next Asia Day is scheduled for December 2024 and will once again bring together innovative minds, industry leaders and high-level representatives with the aim to forge new connections and strengthen existing ties.
