“Challenging times” - not only this year's motto was adapted to the challenges of 2020 but also the format of the conference: The president of the Austrian Economic Chamber Harald Mahrer and the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Austria Dmitry Lyubinski switched in live via video from Vienna at the opening of the conference. Austrian Trade Commissioner for Central Asia Clemens Machal virtually joined the event from Almaty and underlined the importance of the CIS region for Austrian companies. As a keynote speaker, university professor Gerhard Mangott analyzed the political situation in Russia via video. Christian Kern, former Austrian Federal Chancellor and now Managing Director of Blue Minds Solutions, took part in one of the discussion panels live from Austria.
The conference was conducted in strict compliance with all security rules. Numerous representatives of Austrian companies, investors and branch managers from Russia discussed the current economic situation and the prospects for cooperation between the CIS countries and Austria. In four panels, well-known experts discussed the topics of the Eurasian Economic Union, sanctions, digital economy, international business cooperation as well as sustainability and the energy industry in front of a very interested audience. Afterwards, several Austrian companies received an award in various categories for their exceptional performance during a gala dinner.
