Vienna (OTS)- The Brock Commons Tallwood House ins Vancouver, Canada is one of the highest buildings world-wide built in mass timber construction. Except for the semi-basement and central development core the building consists entirely of mass timber elements, be it outside walls, support structures or ceilings. The use of prefabricated parts allowed for timely and resource affective construction. For interior fittings eco-friendly material was chosen. The Austrian Architecture Company Herrmann Kaufmann Architekten introduced its technical expertise in the development of wood construction in mass timber technology into the design and implementation process.
Energy efficiency and supply of renewable energy are the focus of the Austrian Green Planet Building (AGPB) Awards. The objectives and strict criteria of the national initiative for climate protection “klimaactive” for the construction and real estate industry are transferred into the international realm. The excellent work achieved abroad by Austrian planning offices, consultants, construction companies, manufacturing plants in the sector of Building Sustainably will be distinguished by Austrian Green Planet Building.
AGPB is an umbrella brand, jointly used by the Federal Ministry of Climate Protection, Environment, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK) and FOREIGN TRADE AUSTRIA (AWA).
The award-winning Brock Commons Tallwood House in Vancouver, much talked about in Canada and the USA, will be bestowed with the Austrian Green Planet Building Award: the building impresses with the consistent implementation of the solid wood construction method for a high-building and its resource-efficiency thanks to prefabricated parts.
