Background Smart city development can improve people’s daily lives and make Hong Kong a more liveable city. The HK Government has released a Smart City Blueprint and plans to invest substantial amounts to push ahead with key infrastructure projects for smart city development.
Smart City Consortium (SCC) is a non-government and non-profit organization to facilitate the development of the smart city agenda in Hong Kong. On 26 January, 2016, the Hong Kong Smart City Consortium signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Austrian Technology Corporation in Hong Kong, witnessed by Mr Nicholas Yang, Secretary for Innovation and Technology, Dr. Claudia Reinprecht, Austrian Consul General in Hong Kong, and Ir. Allen Yeung, Government Chief Information Officer. Mr. Eric Yeung, Convener of Smart City Consortium, signed the document with Austrian Technology Corporation’s Chief Executive Officer Tino Terraneo. The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding facilitates the Smart City information exchange between Austria and Hong Kong. Both, Austria and Hong Kong, can learn from each other’s experience.
To support Hong Kong smart city development and enhance the closer collaboration between Austria and Hong Kong on the development of smart cities, bmvit, FFG, ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA, ATC and SCC work with Austrian and Hong Kong experts from a wide cross-section of smart city technology providers, consultants, research institutes and technology groups. Its vision is to empower industry to nurture the nation's competitive advantage through smart city technologies. We look forward to your advice by Wednesday, 7 November 2018 whether you could join the Austrian Technology Day. For more details, please check the programme (PDF, 0.6MB) or contact Ms. Yvonne Choi
