Austrian Business Delegation in Fujian Province
From 4 - 9 July 2022, ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA Guangzhou & Chengdu organized an Austrian Business Delegation to the southeastern coastal province of Fujian, visiting the cities of Longyan, Zhangzhou, Xiamen and Fuzhou.
Despite all COVID19-related uncertainties and with highest flexibility concerning program and participants of the companies RHI Magnesita, Ebner, Commend, FerRobotics, TANN Longyou, Raiffeisen Bank International, cargo-partner and Gebrüder Weiss, a delegation of Austrian subsidiaries in China explored top companies in the economically strong coastal province of Fujian.
Fujian is historically one of the most cosmopolitan provinces in China, which had already developed into one of the most important multicultural hubs of the maritime Silk Road in the trade with silk, metal goods and porcelain in the times of the Song and Yuan dynasties (about 10th - 14th century). The port of the Fujianese city of Quanzhou (also Zayton), for example, was described once by the famous navigator Ibn Battuta (in Quanzhou from 1345) as the largest in the world.
Following in the footsteps of this glorious past, the delegation, led by Austrian Commercial Consul and Head of Consulate in Guangzhou, Ms. Birgit Murr, made high-level business contacts in diverse industries ranging from steel and aluminum to automotive and environmental technologies to tobacco and new materials such as chemical fibers. The openess of Fujian province has been also reflected in the warm welcome our local partner organisations as well as the Fujianese companies expressed toward our delegation.
