After two years of construction, on the 9th of June 2023, the Austrian water refinement specialist BWT and the Chinese Haier Group celebrated the opening of a new establishment in Qingdao, China. The joint venture has invested 60 million Euros to construct a smart factory covering an area of 60 000 m2 in the Sino-German Eco Park. The facility includes a logistics and distribution hub as well as a centre for research and development to jointly develop sustainable and innovative water purification solutions. The plant is scheduled to reach full capacity by 2025, when a total number of two million units will be produced each year, primarily serving Asian markets.
