Austria  has always played a pivotal role in the development and promotion of passive house technology setting standards for environmentally friendly building practices globally. Austria was one of the first countries to adopt the passive house standard, which emphasizes energy efficiency and sustainability in residential and commercial buildings. By incorporating sustainable materials and smart design principles, they significantly reduce energy consumption and carbon footprints.

On the 21st January 2025, China’s first  Passive House Premium in Taicang was honored with the highest international certification in efficiency, marking a significant achievement! 

During the opening ceremony, Ms. Alexandra Runge, Vice Consul (Commercial Affairs) presented the Austrian Green Planet Building Award, to the planning team of Urban Development Design led by Manuel Scherfer and Chengjie Xu and the innovative engineering firm NEUBAU best.energy who certified China's First Passive House Premium. 

With this groundbreaking project new benchmarks and quality standards in the field of Passive Houses, showcasing Austrian engineering excellence beyond national borders are set.
