Vienna's City Councillor, Peter Hanke, led delegation to Hong Kong

Vienna's City Councillor for Economic Affairs, Peter Hanke, led a delegation to Hong Kong to discuss smart city strategies, technology initiatives, and potential areas of cooperation between the two cities.

The delegation met with the Hong Kong government, including representatives from the Innovation and Technology Bureau, as well as the Austrian Chamber of Commerce (AustroCham) and Viennese startups participating in a pitch event on sustainable city solutions.

Councillor Hanke and the delegation also held discussions with Hong Kong's Chief Secretary for Administration and InvestHK leadership to explore policies and opportunities for attracting investment, skills, and green tech innovations.

The trip culminated in a networking event where the delegates highlighted Vienna's strengths as an innovation and technology hub, as well as the potential for strengthened economic and technological cooperation between Vienna and Hong Kong.

On the second day, the Austrian delegation met with Hong Kong's Smart City Consortium to share experiences and identify possibilities for collaboration on smart mobility, green technology, and intelligent transportation systems.

The visit provided a platform for Vienna to showcase its smart city expertise and explore areas of mutual interest with Hong Kong.
