ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA Hong Kong recently hosted a WU Executive MBA Mobility Management Study Trip to Hong Kong and Guangzhou, welcoming Bachelor’s and Master’s students from WU Vienna University of Economics and Business. The program was tailored specifically for Porsche Holding employees and focused on technology trends and their implications in mobility management.
The delegation was led by Professor Florian Zapkau (WU Executive Academy), together with WU Program Coordinator Ms. Susanne Eder, and Mr. Klaus Fetka, Head of HR Communication and Talent Acquisition at Porsche Holding. The program officially commenced with a welcome cocktail reception in Hong Kong where the group was greeted by Mrs. Jennifer Veigel. The reception was further honoured by the presence of Dr. Gerhard Zettl, Austrian Consul General in Hong Kong, as well as invited local business partners, offering valuable opportunities for networking and exchange.
Insights into Hong Kong’s Business and Smart Mobility Ecosystem
The Hong Kong program opened with a comprehensive presentation on Hong Kong’s business landscape by Mrs. Jennifer Veigel, providing participants with valuable insights into the city’s role as an international business hub, gateway to Asia, and innovation-driven economy.
This was followed by a presentation and discussion on smart mobility by MTR, highlighting Hong Kong’s leadership in sustainable transportation, digitalization, and smart city development. The program continued with company visits to KPMG Hong Kong and Jebsen Group, where participants gained practical perspectives on doing business in Hong Kong, market trends, and corporate strategies in the region.
On the second day, the focus shifted toward innovation and future technologies, with presentations and discussions by the Hong Kong Productivity Council and Baidu International. A key highlight of the Hong Kong leg was the opportunity to experience an autonomous robotaxi, offering first-hand exposure to cutting-edge autonomous driving technology.
Immersion in China’s Electric and Autonomous Mobility Landscape
Following the Hong Kong program, the group travelled to Guangzhou, one of China’s most important technology and manufacturing hubs. Site visits included leading companies such as XPeng Motors, GAC Aion, EHang, BYD, and Huawei, providing in-depth insights into electric vehicles, autonomous driving, urban air mobility, and smart manufacturing ecosystems in China
The study trip concluded with the group’s return to Hong Kong for onward travel back to Europe.
