Approximately 100 days after taking up her position as Austrian Trade Commissioner in Israel, Eva Maria Weithaler reflects positively on her first months in office. As the new head of ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA Tel Aviv, she has quickly established herself in her new role, met numerous key stakeholders, decision-makers and representatives of the Israeli business community, and already set important impulses for future cooperation.

For Eva Maria Weithaler, Tel Aviv is the fourth international posting within the global ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA network. Since joining ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA, she has worked across various European markets, supporting Austrian companies in their internationalization efforts. As Deputy Trade Commissioner in Ljubljana, she was responsible not only for Slovenia but also for Albania and Kosovo. She subsequently moved to Milan, where she covered Italy and Malta. From 2021 to 2026, she served as Deputy Trade Commissioner in Istanbul, assisting Austrian companies with market entry and business development in Türkiye, Azerbaijan and Georgia. Prior to taking up her position in Tel Aviv, Weithaler returned to ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA headquarters in Vienna, where she headed the go-international team. go-international is Austria’s flagship internationalization program and a joint initiative of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKÖ) and the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs, Energy and Tourism (BMWET). The program supports Austrian companies in developing international markets, expanding exports and establishing long-term international business relationships.

Drawing on many years of experience in export promotion and an extensive international network, Weithaler now leads ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA Tel Aviv. During her first months in Israel, she held numerous meetings with representatives from business, government, innovation and technology institutions, as well as with Austrian companies active in the market. These exchanges have enabled her to gain valuable insights into current economic developments and business opportunities for Austrian companies in Israel.

“Despite the challenging environment, Israel remains one of the most innovative economies in the world. I am very much looking forward to the years ahead in Tel Aviv and to working together with our team to support Austrian companies in achieving their business goals while fostering new partnerships and cooperation between Austria and Israel,” says Weithaler.

ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA Tel Aviv offers a broad range of services: from identifying business partners and providing market intelligence to organizing trade missions, delegation visits and industry events. The office serves as a reliable local partner for Austrian companies seeking to enter or expand in the Israeli market. In addition, the team continuously monitors and reports on economic developments, technology trends and emerging business opportunities.

Israel is widely recognized as one of the world's leading innovation hubs and offers particularly attractive cooperation opportunities for Austrian companies in future-oriented sectors such as digitalization, cybersecurity, mobility, life sciences, energy technologies, food & beverages, including wine as well as construction & infrastructure.

The team of ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA Tel Aviv looks forward to continuing to support Austrian companies with local expertise, a strong business network and tailored services, helping them achieve sustainable success in the Israeli market.

For any questions regarding the Israeli and/or Austrian market, the team at ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA Tel Aviv will be pleased to assist.
