A delegation of 25 participants joined the event, reaching from politics and administration to universities and other educational institutions as well as companies, all of whom are driving the digitalisation of the Austrian education sector with innovative ideas. The goal of the learning journey was to explore digitalization and innovation in the education system of South Korea, including the recently introduced AI digital textbook.
Upon arrival, the event kicked off with a joint welcome dinner, where the participants were given an overview of South Korea by the Trade Commissioner, Wolfgang Köstinger, and the Austrian Ambassador in Seoul, Wolfgang Angerholzer, followed by an introduction to the Korean education system by Prof. Michael Prieler, an Austrian professor at Hallym University.
On the second day, an Austria - Korea EdTech Workshop was held in cooperation with the Korea Digital Education Frontiers Association (KEFA), represented by its President Mr. LEE Hyung-Se. The workshop included five exciting keynote speeches on the Korean and Austrian education systems as well as on the digitalisation of the education sector by Dr. SHIN, Min-Chul (i-Scream Media), Mr. SEO, Jong-Won (Korea Education & Research Information Service (KERIS)), Prof. LIM, Cheol-il (Seoul National University), Mrs. Melina Schneider (Austrian Federal Economic Chamber), and Mrs. Magdalena Gärtner (ED Tech Austria). Afterwards, the participants were given time for networking with the Korean guests.
Among the highlights of the event were visits to various companies, schools and institutions such as Tekville Education, the Korean Foundation for Science and Creativity (KOSAC), Naegok Middle School, i-Scream Media, Visang Education, Mirim Meister School, Ubion and I Hate Flying Bugs.
All in all, the participants were able to gain various new and innovative impressions of South Korea's EdTech sector during this week and expand their network of Korean companies and thus laid the groundwork for future cooperation.
