Pass a building and you will recognize Doka’s yellow formwork from a mile off; the Austrian firm’s products and services are in demand all round the world, e.g. for constructing tunnels, buildings and bridges.
Doka has also achieved international success in the skyscraper sector, with more than 1,000 projects completed. The company’s involvement in construction of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai (United Arab Emirates) 20 years ago literally took Doka’s products to a new level; since opening its doors in 2010, the skyscraper has been the tallest building in the world (828 metres) and Doka supplied the formwork.
The Austrian company has now won the tender for another skyscraper project in Dubai: the Aziz Tower is to be the second-tallest building in the world, towering somewhere between 680 and 828 meters into the sky; the exact height is yet to be fixed. A multi-storey shopping centre, luxurious apartments and penthouse flats have been planned, along with a 7-star hotel and a viewing platform. This project will also feature Doka’s complete formwork system, from design to delivery.
Doka has been operating in the Middle East for more than 45 years and has several branches in the region, which has proved useful for the company on this project as well; the building is going up on Sheikh Zayed Road, the largest and best-known street in the city, and the cramped quarters there will be a particular challenge, but Doka will be using its local workshop to come up with solutions.
