Company profile
The first evidence of Esterházy growing wine in Burgenland dates back to 1612, with cellar records extending back to 1758. Esterházy was the first winery to produce varietal and single vineyard wines and initiated the cultivation of Pinot Noir with a new cellar master from Burgundy. Another important milestone was reached in 2023, when the winery received organic certification.
Since 2021, Esterházy has increasingly employed barrels with minimal toasting made from Leithaberg oak grown in its own forests. Since 2023, three of the largest concrete eggs in the world (3,800 litres), incorporating 30% basalt from Esterházy's Pauliberg quarry, have been used. The result: elegant, organic wines with a mineral character that reflect the uniqueness of the terroir.
