The event kicked-off with Advantage Austria’s Commercial Counsellor David Bachmann introducing the Regional Sector Strategy for ASEAN. He shared with the attendees the economic outlook and strategy for Austria in Singapore, highlighting that, with continuing integration and growth, the ASEAN region should be considered as the most dynamic region for Austrian companies to look at in the next few years.
Peter Guschelbauer, the Austrian Ambassador to Singapore, then shared his outlook for 2021 with regards to the prevailing travel restrictions in Singapore, indicating that he does not expect restrictions to ease in the near future with most of travel continuing to be on hold.
We also had the pleasure of welcoming Mr. Joachim Ihrcke from Leistritz AG to introduce the participants to the recently introduced Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between ASEAN, Australia, China, Japan, Korea and New Zealand and its implications for businesses in the region. He mentioned that this trade agreement would affect 30% of the World’s population and bring about a number of new opportunities for businesses in the region, by expanding regional trade, investment, and economic development.
