The Rio de Janeiro Earth Summit took place 30 years ago, with 154 states signing up to an international environmental treaty to combat ‘dangerous human intervention in the climate system’ and laying the foundation stone for modern environmental diplomacy.
Emissions have continued to rise, however, and the effects of climate change and air pollution are becoming more and more critical.
In the face of current crises and concerns, the Austrian World Summit 2022 has set out to strike a positive note for a sustainable future with this year’s slogan: Creating Hope - Inspiring Action.
The range of topics includes everything from crises and conflicts through industrial transformation processes and digital solutions to communications and sustainable food production. Successful and sustainable projects will be presented along with innovative technological solutions to combat environmental pollution.
As every year, leading personalities from the worlds of politics, commerce and civil society, representatives from startups, regional and municipal activists, and a range of experts will be swapping notes, comparing experiences and exchanging ideas with a view to accelerating the progress of sustainable climate protection projects.
