The Australian medical technology company 4DMedical is acquiring the Vienna-based AI startup Contextflow in a deal valued at AUD $18.6 million, plus shares and performance-based options.
Contextflow specializes in AI-powered radiology, particularly in lung imaging applications. 4DMedical, which focuses on respiratory medicine using AI-based imaging, aims to expand its presence in Europe through the acquisition, enable cross-selling within its existing customer base, and further develop its platform for functional respiratory and lung imaging. The deal is also expected to reduce regulatory friction and support scalable growth in European markets.
In addition to the financial terms, Contextflow brings an established product suite that is already CE-certified and compliant with the EU Medical Device Regulation (MDR), as well as an existing customer base. CEO Markus Holzer will take on the role of General Manager of 4DMedical Europe as part of the acquisition.
