On Thursday 7th May 2026, the Austrian Trade Commission Hong Kong & Macau marked its 65th anniversary with a special Austrian Business Circle reception, celebrating more than six decades of strengthening economic ties between Austria and Hong Kong.
The evening brought together long-standing partners, members of the Austrian business community, and friends of Austria for an occasion that combined reflection and forward-looking exchange. At the heart of the event was a newly compiled anniversary presentation, created specifically for this milestone. Drawing on extensive archival work, the team revisited decades of history—digitising old photographs, uncovering faxes and telegrams, and rediscovering presentation materials from earlier times.
The result is a compact and vivid chronicle that traces the development of the Austrian Trade Commission in Hong Kong alongside 65 years of Austria–Hong Kong business relations. It illustrates how both the office’s role and the broader economic cooperation have evolved over time, while highlighting key milestones and success stories of Austrian companies in the market.
Guests were given the opportunity to explore this journey through time, gaining valuable insights into the growth of bilateral ties and the continuous expansion of Austria’s business footprint in the region. At the same time, the reception provided a platform for exchange and networking—true to the Austrian Business Circle format that has long been a cornerstone of our activities.
