At the 13th “Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Wine & Spirt Competition” (HKIWC) held in November 2021, Austrian shone winning medals in all major categories. Check out the Grüner Veltliners, Dessert Wines, Zweigelts and other Austrian wines, Master of Wine Debra Meiburg and her jury colleagues rave about.
“It is a great honour for us to receive this award and we are very thankful about the reputation of wine enthusiasts in China. This award is a testament to the fact that our white wines not only match the traditional Austrian food but also matches perfectly with the Asian cuisine”, says winemaker Katja Pflogsch from the winery Domäne Wachau. Dieter Huebler from Laurenz Five Fine Wine is very happy that his “Singing Grüner Veltliner” won several awards including “Best Wine from Austria 2021” and “Best Grüner Veltliner 2021”. A new winery from Austria is Domäne Roland Cha which won with its Grüner Veltliner also several trophies.
The HKIWC is Asia’s largest and most respected wine competition. Each year a panel of Asian wine experts reviews about 2,000 wine entries. Awards and medals at the HKIWSC have been like a stamp of approval to the quality of wines.
