The Austrian Winter Sports Days Conference & Ski Race, held from 8thto 10th December at the beautiful Wanfeng Tonghua Ski Resort in Tonghua City, the hometown of modern skiing in China, Jilin Province, has come to a successful end.
The event was jointly organized by ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA Beijing, the Austrian National Tourist Office and the Tonghua Municipal Government.
As the most important networking platform of the Austrian - Chinese winter sports community, the event was supported by HEAD Sport GmbH, Doppelmayr Seilbahnen GmbH and many other Austrian brands. More than 300 winter sports professionals and government officials from Austria and China attended the event.
The opening ceremony of the conference began with a welcome speech by Ms. Manuela Sandler, Deputy Head of ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA Beijing. Other opening speeches were given by Dr. Andreas Riecken, the Austrian Ambassador to China, Mr. Liu Kai, the Vice- Governor of Jilin Province and Mr. Gao Shan, Mayor of Tonghua City.
This year’s conference theme: “Smart Data: an important power source for the development of the ice and snow industry“ was discussed by more than 300 government representatives and winter sports industry insiders from both Austria and China.
The second day saw the 11th edition of the much-anticipated ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA Ski Race.
More than 80 participants from Austria, China and other countries took part in this outstanding competition. This world- class event brought together skiers and snowboarders from all over the world at the Tonghua Wanfeng Ski Resort to showcase their winter sports skills.
After the thrilling competition, the Austrian-style Gala Dinner at the V-Continent Tonghua Hotelgave everyone a chance to experience some alpine style après-ski. The relaxed and pleasant atmosphere brought the Austrian Winter Sports Days 2023 to a successful close. The impressive location with beautiful Christmas decorations, delicious food and Austrian wine, accompanied by a wonderful live band performance and a charity raffle with many amazing prizes, not only created a unique atmosphere, but also provided a casual networking opportunity.
It is also worth mentioning that in addition to the great Austrian wines, there was also a wide variety of locally produced high quality wines from Tonghua, an important wine producing region in China, as well as Chinese dance performance with local characteristics.
The net proceeds from the Austrian Winter Sports Days 2023 will be donated to the Tonghua Red Cross for special education and training.
With more than 100 years of winter sports history, Austria has hosted numerous international winter sports events, including two Winter Olympic Games and the Youth Olympic Winter Games. Austrian companies are world leaders in winter sports related technologies, setting standards in areas ranging from ski and outdoor equipment manufacturing to training and winter sports infrastructure and tourism.
