From January 19 to 21, 2026, ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA Shanghai organized a high-profile Trend Scouting Mission focusing on “The Future of Health in China.” Representatives from Austrian companies gained valuable insights into the dynamic developments in China's healthcare and medical technology industries, which are setting global standards - particularly in the areas of digital health, AI-supported medicine, robotics and drug development.
As part of the intensive program, the delegation visited several leading innovation hubs and companies in Shanghai and Suzhou, including Shanghai United Imaging Healthcare, BioBay Suzhou, Shanghai MicroPort MedBot, the Siemens Healthineers Innovation Center, and OYMotion Technology.
United Imaging and MicroPort are two of the top three medtech companies in China. Expert presentations and internal company discussions covered topics such as AI-supported drug development, robot-assisted surgery, digital imaging, reproductive medicine technologies, and Brain-Computer-Interfaces (BCI).
A highlight of the trend scouting mission was the B2B networking reception at the Jin Mao Tower in Shanghai, which gave participants the chance to connect with Austrian and Chinese healthcare experts.
