The First Austrian-Baltic Business Forum is a new initiative that aims to strengthen the cooperation between the Baltic States and Austria by bringing together government officials, investors and entrepreneurs from the Baltic States and Austria. During various presentations you will have the opportunity to learn more about the economy and potential investment and business opportunities in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.
Furthermore, you will benefit from business matchmaking and get in touch with other industry leaders and entrepreneurs to explore opportunities on a one-to-one networking basis.
Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania - three small countries in north-eastern Europe with a lot of potential. The dynamic growth that the Baltic economies have sustained since regaining their independence in 1991 is impressive. Large EU-funded infrastructure projects in the areas of transport and energy remain an important pan-Baltic driver. In view of the current geopolitical events, the three states are acting in particularly strong unison. However, despite all the commonalities Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania are three independent states with their own particularities and should not be regarded homogenously as "the Baltic States".
Estonia is "A Digital Nation" and plays a pioneering role in e-government services. The IT sector also plays a leading role. Estonia offers a very business-friendly environment and was the first country in the world to introduce e-residency for foreigners.
Latvia, together with Sweden and Finland, is one of the three European leaders in smart energy. The wind energy sector offers potential for expansion. Together with Estonia and Lithuania, a joint cross-border offshore wind project ELWIND has been launched.
Lithuania is characterised by a strong transport industry. The country presents itself as an interesting and competitive near-shoring location with a well-educated workforce. Many students choose engineeringprograms and with 52 % the sector has a high proportion of women.
After the presentations, you will have the opportunity for networking and B2B discussions with the speakers.
