Mr. Im Sang-jun, the new chairman and CEO of K-eco, was awarded the Energy Globe Award 2024 by the Austrian Trade Commissioner, Mr. Wolfgang Köstinger. The ceremony took place during an official visit to K-eco's premises in Incheon.

The Energy Globe Award has been founded in Austria and is awarded annually since 2000. It is considered as the world's most renowned environmental award, with over 180 participating countries and a total of around 40,000 environmental projects submitted. The award is administered by the Energy Globe Foundation, a non-profit organisation which aims to present innovative and sustainable projects to a broad global audience to solve environmental problems and raise awareness of the importance of these projects.

The award-winning project ‘Airkorea’ provides the public with comprehensive data on air pollution and air quality in real time, setting new standards in public data provision. The information made available ranges from hourly measurements of six major air pollutants, including fine dust and ozone, to forecasts and health alerts as well as action guidelines for vulnerable groups. It is also accessible to private developers via an open API, enabling the creation of innovative applications and solutions. The data not only serves to raise awareness, but also actively contributes to improving air quality.
