A host of medals will soon be up for grabs, and Europe’s latest generation of skilled workers are packing their bags and heading for Herning, Denmark, to attend EuroSkills 2025. The Danish town has made a name for itself as a centre for the arts and a host for trade fairs and conferences, but this competition is set not only to attract the experts of tomorrow but also to be the largest-scale educational event ever held in Denmark.
This year’s European skills championships will see some 600 participants from more than 40 countries entering the lists in a total of 38 professional disciplines, testing their mettle and displaying their skills and expertise over the three days of the competition. An audience of around 100,000 supporters is expected to come and cheer their teams on.
Austria will of course be represented at EuroSkills, and the country’s talented squad of 44 young hopefuls is even the largest national delegation in the competition, contesting no less than 36 disciplines. Austria has always kept its end up in the medal tables at previous EuroSkills, underscoring the high quality of the country’s vocational training. Austria’s dual education system allows apprentices to follow parallel training courses in industrial placements and at vocational schools, forging a strong bond between the worlds of education and business and between theory and practice - an approach that has attracted attention and admiration worldwide.
Sustainability is also playing an increasingly important role in education, and the slogan for EuroSkills 2025 will thus be “Skilled for a Greener Future“. Highly qualified experts will undoubtedly play a key role in successful implementation of the “green revolution” as it examines how future technological and environmental challenges can be tackled and investigates how trades that are hidebound by tradition can be developed to meet the requirements of the society of tomorrow; imparting the necessary skills via vocational education will play a key role here. Making the event as sustainable and environmentally friendly as possible is a further important consideration, from planning and delivery to the period after the event.
The training received by Austria’s talented youngsters will certainly leave them perfectly prepared for the future, and ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA wishes them every success at EuroSkills 2025!
