RHI Magnesita has signed an agreement with Liangyou, one of the leading refractory companies in Chongqing, China, to acquire a 51% share in an existing Alu-Monolithic plant and to jointly construct an additional new Alumina brick plant in the Wansheng Industrial Park by the end of 2022.
Liangyou’s Alumina Monolithic plant was commissioned in October 2020 and is capable of producing 40,000 tonnes per annum of alumina monolithic products including castables, gunning mixes etc. The high-tech plant is fully automated including a central control unit and packing robots.
The additional brand-new Alumina Fired Bricks plant, which is in the engineering phase, is to be commissioned by end of 2022. The planned capacity is 25,000 tonnes per annum of fired alumina bricks.
RHI Magnesita and Liangyou have been working in partnership since 2007, to provide enhanced refractory solutions to the cement industry in China. The partnership has been very successful and transformed the supply of refractories to cement plants from straight sales to the solutions model.
This new agreement will bring the relationship between the companies to the next level, combining RHI Magnesita’s production knowledge and standards with Liangyou’s service capabilities and thus enhancing the offering and value-add to customers.
This investment underlines RHI Magnesita’s commitment to growing its business in the Chinese market with deepening regionalization. It will also bring leading technical capabilities for the production of high-quality alumina refractories with energy efficiency, low-carbon footprint solutions.
