About the company

Company profile

Cistercian monks, whose Order spread throughout Europe from Burgundy in the 12th century, acquired their first vineyards in 1171. Today, the winery concentrates on the typical wines of origin of the Danube appellations in three categories: regional, village and single vineyard wines. In addition to the classic Danube wines, there are several specialities.
Since Langenlois has developed into the epicentre of Austrian quality sparkling wine production in recent decades, four different cuvées are produced by hand in the winery. Red wine is grown on the gravel soils of the former course of the Danube, sweet wines and ice wine are also cultivated to complete the selection. The winery also uses historical winemaking methods, which are expressed by its TRADITION wines.

The winery is a member of the "Österreichische Traditionsweingüter" association of traditional wineries, which is establishing a classification of Austria's vineyards.
