The Austrian Commercial Counsellor, Michael Fried, attended the signing ceremony on 21 August 2024 at the Thai-Austrian Technical College in Sattahip / Chonburi, together with the Austrian company voestalpine Railway Systems. The primary goal of the MoU is to elevate the quality of student education. Companies involved in the MoU will contribute by providing opportunities for internships, apprenticeships, and dual education. Some companies will also offer tuition scholarships and potential job placements to students. Moreover, the companies’ feedback will be instrumental in refining and improving the curriculum at the Thai-Austrian Technical College.
The school was established in 1969, but later was renamed as the Thai-Austrian Technical College 1979. The establishment of the school is a cooperation between the Thai government and the Austrian government. At the time, Thailand provided the location and construction of infrastructures. The Austrian government provided support in machinery, learning equipment, and sent teachers to train the students and their teachers to be able to use the machinery and equipment. They also provided training funds for Thai teachers to train in Austria. Today, the school has over 4000 students and provides education in vocational certificate level, and vocational diploma level. Fields of study includes electrical engineering, automotive mechanic, industrial mechanic, railway engineering, accounting, hospitality and tourism and computer mechanics to name a few.
