ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA and the European Australian Business Council (EABC) co-hosted a high-level roundtable at the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber in Vienna. The event brought together over 80 senior representatives from Austrian and Australian government, industry, and academia to strengthen bilateral ties and explore new opportunities for collaboration. Opening remarks from WKO Vice President Wolfgang Hesoun, AUSSENWIRTSCHAFT AUSTRIA Deputy Head Astrid Fixl-Pummer, and EABC Chair Duncan Lewis set the tone for a constructive and forward-looking exchange.
The program featured contributions from Thomas Eibl and Jürgen Streitner of WKO, as well as Prof. Martin Kocher, former Minister for Labour and Economy and incoming Governor of the Austrian National Bank. Delegates from the EABC and senior representatives of major Austrian companies with significant investments in Australia also shared their perspectives, highlighting the strong and diverse ties already in place across multiple sectors.
The roundtable reinforced Austria’s role as a stable, innovation-driven hub for trade and investment and underlined the shared opportunities in clean energy, critical minerals and advanced manufacturing. Participants emphasised the importance of building on these synergies to deliver long-term partnerships that reflect both countries’ economic strengths and strategic priorities in a rapidly changing global landscape.
