"Vietnam has developed into a leading center for woodworking, manufacturing and exporting furniture worldwide in recent years. The country is now one of the largest furniture manufacturers in the world, after China, Germany, Italy and Poland", says Dietmar Schwank, the Austrian Commercial Counsellor in Ho Chi Minh City. "Austrian suppliers of wood, wood-based materials, woodworking technology and furniture supplies will continue to find good market opportunities in Vietnam."
11 Austrian exhibitors, seven of them at the ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA pavilion, were present at the show and marketed their products to a professional audience. Despite some recent turbulences in the global market, at present, there are signs of recovery in the international import markets of Vietnam’s timber and wood products. Austrian wood and furniture hardware companies are already well established in Vietnam, some of them operating subsidiaries in Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi.
