The American Friends of Austria were pleased to welcome many representatives of the Austrian business community and their friends at their festive highlight of the year – the Viennese Gala Ball 2011 at the Drake Hotel. 2011 marks the special 70th anniversary of the prestigious ball.
The ball was once again a pleasure for all the senses - the beautifully decorated Gold Coast Room, a gourmet dinner, the “Anthony Kawalkowski String Orchestra” and strolling violinists inspired more than 200 guests to waltz away the evening of February 11th.

Spotted among the numerous guests with their partners: Consul General Thomas Schnoell, Karen Dorjee and Elisabeth Freudensprung (Austrian Consulate General in Chicago), Simone Pohl (German American Chamber of Commerce), Adolfo Laurenti (Mesirow Financial), Dolores Simon (Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce), Mary Roberts (Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity), Georg Raidl and Christoph Jandl (RHI), Anja Decker (Constantia Flexibles), Paul Anderson (Sonnenberg & Anderson), Robert Marjai (DHL), Sandra von Valtier, Manfred Bauer (Weinbauer), Timo Rehbock (Wildman, Harrold Allen & Dixon), Matthias Amberg (Rödl & Partner), Rita Johnson (Fifth Third Bank) joined by Franz Roessler, Anders Benson and Margit Mills, Laura-Christin Quehenberger and Stefanie Aigner (Austrian Trade Commission Chicago).

Special thanks to Loretta Fleischmann and Trudy Nika from the American Friends of Austria for bringing this cultural treasure from Vienna to Chicago and in keeping a wonderful tradition going.
