The Austrian Export Prizes for 2022 were awarded on 27 June as part of Exporters’ Nite, a prestigious evening event that shines an annual spotlight on Austria’s top exporters. The Export Prizes honour the exceptional involvement and success achieved by Austrian companies on international markets.

The awards are made on the basis of recent years’ export figures, with a prize in five categories – and if a company has carved out a strong niche for itself on the world’s markets, has an efficient network abroad, or is considered a pioneering exporter, it might just be in the running for the Global Player Award.

The Expat Award is also awarded to an individual for services to Austria’s foreign trade.

The Global EcoVision Award goes to Austrian companies that have made a sustainable contribution to climate protection and easing environmental impact with their innovative technologies, products and services.

This year’s Expat Award has been awarded to Susanne Zhang-Pongratz, the CEO of Getzner Materials Co. Ltd. Her role has brought her responsibility for operational business and strategic direction of Getzner Materials in China and Hong Kong since 2017. Getzner is the leading specialist for vibration insulation and shock-proofing, as used in stretches of rail track, in the construction sector, and in industry, for example. With its giant cities and dense network of high-speed rail connections, China is a market of particular interest for this showpiece company from Austria.

Global Hydro Energy have won the Global EcoVision Award 2022. With an export ratio of more than 90%, the company is the world’s first-choice contact partner for compact hydropower technologies. The Austrian firm has specialised in Kaplan, Pelton and Francis turbines in the 100kW to 30MW range and also offer turn-key solutions here.  Systems such as HEROS, a fully automated turbine and power plant management suite, and smarT, a PLUG-IN off-the-shelf power plant, have made Global Hydro Energy a top player on the international stage.
