The Austrian Trade Commission in New York covers the following US states:
Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia as well as Puerto Rico, US-Virgin Islands, Bahamas, and Bermuda.

Michael, born on 4th of July 1971 in Vienna has an MBA from the Vienna University of Economics and a Master degree in International Public Policy from Johns Hopkins, SAIS in Washington DC.

He was Deputy Trade Commissioner in Johannesburg and Abu Dhabi. Later he headed the offices in Washington DC and Tehran before being in charge of HR and personnel development at the head office in Vienna. Starting in September 2014 he became the new Austrian Trade Commissioner for the US based in New York. In this function he is heading the office of ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA for the US in New York City.

In his spare time Michael loves to cook, run and read books on architecture.

After receiving his Master’s degree in Business Administration in Austria, Daniel worked in various locations in Europe before joining ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA in 2015. After three years in his first posting at ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA Bangkok (2016 – 2019), he started his second professional chapter at ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA in New York City as Deputy Trade Commissioner in August 2019.   He is interested in the disruptive effects of new technologies, sustainable smart city solutions and building up strong and recognizable brands.   As a passionate photographer and traveler, he spends his free time exploring new places and discovering New York.

Daniel, upon graduating from the Vienna University of Economics and Business, came to New York to work as a consultant in the field of foreign direct investment, international trade and business development.

At ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA he covers technology and innovation topics (e.g. AI, robotics, future of work) as well as industries such as healthcare & medical devices, digital health, biotechnology & pharmaceuticals, and consumer goods. Daniel is also in charge of our collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.


Magdalena has a passion for interior design, architecture and creative industries, and is hence fortunate to cover these areas. Moreover she is in charge of all products, technologies and trends that target the food & beverage industry, including wine and beer.

Needless to say, she enjoys to a great extent supporting Austrian companies with her expertise in epicurean fields.  

Magdalena holds a Magister's Degree in Law from the Karl Franzens University of Graz. She was trained as a lawyer in Vienna where she passed the bar exam before joining our team in New York.

Julia is a communication and events manager who also covers the areas Consumer Goods and Lifestyle at Advantage Austria New York.  She believes that effective communication is key to every business' success. Julia holds a Magister's Degree in Political Science from the University of Vienna and is fluent in German, English, Croatian and French.

From journalism to politics to the Austrian Trade Commission. Petra has worked in two interesting and dynamic fields in the United States and Austria before joining Advantage Austria New York.

Petra has a M.A. in Communication/Journalism from the University of Wyoming. At Advantage Austria she is in charge of office administration, accounting and human resources.

Florian made his first experiences with ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA during an internship in autumn 2015. He later on joined our team in August 2016 and covers the following industries: startups, fintech, apparel and social media. He is also monitoring disruptive trends in finance and tries to identify future challenges for banking.

Prior to this position Florian gathered working experience at major Austrian and international banks. He holds a Bachelor of Science from the Vienna University of Economics and Business.
