At the roundtable discussion on 25 February 2022, officials from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Natural Resources and Environment and Vietnam Plastics Association discussed opportunities, challenges and regulatory initiatives in the plastics recycling sector with local representatives from reycling companies, technology providers and NGOs in Vietnam.
In addition, Austrian Commercial Counsellor Dietmar Schwank handed over the National Energy Globe Award for Vietnam and the World Energy Globe Award - Category Youth - to the winning project: "Plastic waste recycling in Hau Giang". The project has been initiated by Mekong Plus and is run by their Vietnamese NGO partner Anh Duong in 67 schools with more than 25,000 pupils in Hau Giang province in order to raise awareness about plastic waste and reduce one-time-use of plastic items as much as possible.
