Austria @ SA Innovation Summit

Advantage Austria is bringing a cohort of Austrian startups to the SA Innovation Summit. Its the single largest event bringing together the region's startup ecosystem. The conference, exhibition and pitching platform present an opportunity for the Austrian companies to share and exchange knowledge and expand their network in the region. 

Selection of the cohort that will take part in the Innovation Summit occurs in Vienna on 25 June. Twelve finalists - from a pool of 70 submissions - will pitch for the top three places. Each of the three will be awarded a fully funded trip to Cape Town, including participation in the Innovation Summit. The remaining 7 of the top 10, also receive a ticket to participate the Innovation Summit, but only the ultimate leader of the ten, will also be the lucky Austrian startup entered into the Innovation Summit's crowning pitching event, the Africa Cup. 

After the Innovation Summit, the Austrian startups will join an acceleration programme hosted in partnership with Startup Bootcamp.

WHY CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA?

Cape Town is the startup capital of South Africa, some might even go so far as to say Africa.  Certainly, with over forty-thousand individuals engaged in more than five hundred companies, it outperforms Nairobi and Lagos in terms of productivity (according to a 2018 report by Endeavour Insight). It is no wonder that almost 50% of the venture capital in the region is invested in projects in this ecosystem.
