The 71st International Softwood Conference is due to take place this autumn and the organisers will once again be the European Organisation of the Sawmill Industry (EOS) and the European Timber Federation (ETTF).
As this year’s conference will be held in Austria, the Association of the Austrian Wood Industries is looking forward to welcoming a large contingent of delegates to Vienna. Online participation in the event will also be available for those keen to attend but unable to travel.
The conference will be deeply scrutinising trends in the timber market, with a focus on developments in the softwood sector. Geopolitical events, climate change and the repercussions of the pandemic are bringing about transformations that will not pass the timber industry by.
The event also promises to be an opportunity to network and swap notes with decision-makers on the international softwood markets from all over the world.
Up-to-date information about is event is available from the International Softwood Conference 2023 website.
Austria thinks wood is good. About half of the country is covered with trees, making Austria one of the most densely forested states in Europe. Although softwood exports dropped slightly last year, the sector’s export ratio has remained relatively stable over the years. Further information, along with facts and figures on the sector, is available on our Forestry and Timber Industry page.
