Software and sensors can turn smartphones into measuring devices, and Senseven GmbH has developed a mobile inspection system for industrial facilities that can identify leaky valves quickly and easily; the sensor measures sound emissions like a stethoscope and the data are transmitted to a smartphone where they are interpreted with support from Artificial Intelligence. The inspection system can be used in a whole host of sectors, such as the chemistry, food or paper industries, or even in power stations.

Construction vehicles can be measuring equipment: Sodex Innovations GmbH fits construction vehicles with cameras and laser scanners, and the equipment collects data and surveys the terrain while diggers and other machinery are in operation. The data are processed and visualised in real time. Not only does this enable the progress of the project to be documented, the system also simplifies building site administration with functions such as site-monitoring and calculation of excavation volumes. The construction and mining industries are both set to benefit from this innovative measuring technology.
